Most Asian import salaries are private. Public numbers often leave out taxes, housing, flights, bonuses and agent fees.

These bands combine official league caps, published player surveys and market reporting. Your level, passport, position, film, timing and negotiating leverage determine the real offer.

China

Asia's highest ceiling—and its hardest door to open.

The CBA targets proven high-level imports who can carry a major role immediately. The Chinese NBL is a shorter, more accessible second market, but still expects production and professional experience.

CBA elite and ex-NBA contracts can run far above the range. For 2026–27, reporting indicates a tighter foreign-player payroll and registration system.

Taiwan

The strongest Eastbound starting point.

Taiwan combines professional import roles with a genuine university pathway. Teams value size, versatility and players who adapt well to local culture and coaching.

Japan's restructured B.League begins in 2026–27. Imports are expected to arrive ready, communicate professionally and deliver in defined roles across a long season.

A growing market with clear import rules.

The IBL is improving its structure and visibility. In 2026, clubs can carry three foreign players, with height restrictions applying to two of the three slots.

The official 2026 cap is $30,000 per club per month for all three foreign-player slots combined, so one player's share depends on roster construction.

Thailand

Short seasons and opportunity for adaptable players.

Thailand can be a useful first professional step or an additional short-season contract. Roles often depend on immediate scoring, rebounding and availability.

Exceptional short-term deals can be higher, but season length, housing and payment schedule matter as much as the headline monthly number.

Philippines

Basketball culture at full volume.

The PBA hires high-impact imports for conference-specific roles. The MPBL and regional competitions offer more varied budgets and contract reliability.

In China, Wild Ball—often called yěqiú—is a loose circuit of privately backed exhibition games and short tournaments. Teams can be assembled quickly, with local and foreign pros hired to win, draw a crowd and put on a show.

01Paid by the game

Deals can be for a single night, a weekend tournament or a run of appearances—not a guaranteed season.

02Anywhere is home court

City gyms, rainy asphalt and packed village courts. The setting is part of the energy.

03Production is the passport

Imports are there to score, compete and entertain. Reputation travels fast when you deliver.

Taiwan college route 臺灣大學籃球

UBA Division I
& Division II.

Foreign players can be recruited into both divisions of Taiwan's university basketball system.

Unlike the NCAA, Taiwan does not use one standardized national athletic-scholarship package. Support is arranged directly with each university and team.

01Tuition

Partial or full tuition support, depending on the program and player.

02Housing

University dormitory or an equivalent accommodation arrangement.

03Daily support

Meals, training support and, in some cases, a monthly living stipend.

04Degree path

Admission to a real academic program with eligibility and grade requirements.

A roster place does not automatically mean a full scholarship. Every package must be confirmed in writing before travel.
