Playing professional basketball in Asia

How to prepare your film and CV, research clubs and compare a professional basketball offer in Asia.

The short answer

A club needs to see how you could help its team now. Recent full games, an accurate CV and clear availability give it a starting point. Before accepting anything, confirm the club, league, season, registration category and complete written offer.

Show coaches how you play

Send recent full games alongside a short highlight video. Include accurate team names, competition dates, your position and your role. Full games help coaches see your decisions, defence and work away from the ball.

Put statistics in context: which competition, how many minutes and where the figures came from. Let the coach connect them with the film.

  • Current team and league, position and measurements.
  • Recent full games with opponent and date.
  • Statistics with their original competition source.
  • Contract status and earliest realistic arrival date.
  • A coach reference who has agreed to be contacted.

Which clubs could suit you?

Use official B.LEAGUE, PBA and IBL information to research teams in Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia. Look for a specific need rather than assuming a country is looking for your type of player.

Ask the club which registration category and signing window apply to you this season. Another player’s past registration does not confirm your own eligibility.

What does the offer include?

Ask for written answers to the questions below. These are our suggestions for comparing offers, not a standard contract. If you need help reviewing the final agreement, use an appropriately qualified adviser.

A league schedule or club website can confirm competition information. It cannot confirm what an individual player earns.

Get ready before a club calls

Keep your CV current and your video links working. Tell clubs which roles you would consider and when you can arrive. A short, organised introduction gives a coach something useful to assess.

Our representation work starts with your games and the clubs that could suit you. The club makes the signing decision; the relevant bodies confirm registration and entry requirements.

  • Send your CV and film together in one clear introduction.
  • Explain your priorities, available dates and location limits.
  • Get answers to outstanding offer questions before travelling.
  • Keep another option open while an arrangement is unconfirmed.

Sources & approach

We link to official information about schools and competitions. The checklists and questions are our suggestions for preparing your application or comparing an offer. Confirm current requirements with the school, team or responsible authority.
