Applying to study and play basketball in Taiwan

Prepare your school documents, basketball film and questions about admission, scholarships and UBA registration.

The short answer

Ask your chosen university for its current application checklist and the team for its registration requirements. Our suggested player information helps a coach assess you, but it does not grant admission or UBA eligibility.

Which documents does the university need?

Taiwan’s Ministry of Education directs international students to apply to the university during its application period. Use the school’s current prospectus for your program’s documents and deadline, and ask about the points below.

  • Ask how your previous diploma and transcript should be submitted.
  • Confirm the teaching language and any language evidence required.
  • Check translation, authentication and financial-document instructions.
  • For a transfer, ask whether credits can be recognized; do not assume they will be.

What should you send the coach?

We suggest the following player information so a coach can understand your role and level. This is our recruiting checklist, separate from the school’s official admission requirements.

  • A player résumé: nationality, position, height, current team and competition.
  • Recent full-game film with the opponent and date identified.
  • A short highlight video with a working, accessible link.
  • Coach contact details shared with their permission.
  • Your graduation or transfer status and intended arrival window.

Can you register to play?

A positive conversation with a coach does not confirm competition registration. Ask the team about the season, division, student status and rules that apply to you.

UBA results show past games and players. Use current regulations and the receiving team to check your eligibility; another player’s record cannot answer that for you.

When should you apply?

Work back from the academic deadline. Keep one checklist for admission, team assessment and funding, with a person responsible for each item. Leave anything unconfirmed marked as open.

After admission is confirmed, ask the international office about the steps for your nationality and course. Check visa requirements with the relevant official authority.
